PEG-MGF is a high-stability variant of Mechano Growth Factor (MGF), a splice variant of Insulin-like Growth Factor-1 (IGF-1). While natural MGF is produced locally in response to muscle tissue stress and has a half-life measured in minutes, PEG-MGF is engineered through PEGylation—the attachment of a Polyethylene Glycol molecule. This modification shields the peptide from rapid enzymatic degradation, extending its biological activity from minutes to several days.
